Mozilla Nepal L10n meetup 2016 was the offline event to motivate the online localizers of Nepali locale. In the event, top 10 winners from the previous online localization sprint were invited. The event was held from 24th November (Friday) to 27th November (Sunday) at SAP Falcha, Babarmahal Kathmandu.
In the three days, we discussed about the ongoing localization activities in Nepali community and other communities. Before this meeting, on 23 September, some of us attended Indic Localization Hackathon at New Delhi, Kathmandu where we got chance to learn about different tools that can be used for localization and shared with the participants of Mozilla Nepal L10n meetup 2016.
Below are the goals that we achieved during the three day long meetup:
- Preparing Style Guide
- Define Criteria for how to choose which product to localize.
- Complete new strings L10n in ff-esr
- Review/Test l10n in browser/mobile
- Prepare a document on most recurring errors
- More out of Pootle (Pootle’s advance features and Transivision)
- Create MozNP L10n Team
- MozGuide to new localizers
In the very event, we discussed about some of the new features of Pootle ( tools used for localizing products of Mozilla ) and also about Transivision. Along with different presentations sessions by the representatives of Mozilla from Nepal, participants were busy in localizing incomplete strings. Almost all the strings for browser/mobile were localized and partially reviewed by the team.
Mr. Nootan Ghimire, who is currently leading the localization team in Nepal, distributed Nepali L10n T-Shirts to the participants and inspired the localizers to work actively on localization.
